How might we make off-grid water purification effective, simple and affordable? Rural areas in India often lack clean water access, since ground water is salinated. Existing solutions for water desalination are either too expensive for average incomes, require external engery sources or do not produce enough water to supply a household.
Outcome
Salvitae is a mangrove powered water desalination unit supplying 1 average household with clean drinking water. It was designed for maximum affordability (ROI of < 3 months), cheap shipping and low maintainance. Using the evaporative cooling power of plants it does not require any external energy source.
